Stoneware Serving Platters:
These
platters come from the Sahara Desert in Morocco that was
a seafloor some 450 million year ago. This very hard limestone
was laid down over millions of years and is particularly
rich in ammonites and Orthoceras (long shelled cephalopods
related to nautiloids). Tremendous labor was required to
cut these out of solid rock, grind them to shape, and polished
them to a glassine finish. Look all you want but, at 20 by
12 inches, you won't find any as large, nor with quality
as fine. Most of the Atlas Mountain stoneware is black, but
these are an earthtone brown. These platters work well to
adorn a dinner table, fireplace mantel, or hung on the wall,
or any of a number decorative uses. Actual item is pictured
- each is one-of-a kind.

Stoneware Book Ends:
These
book ends come from the Saraha Desert in Morocco that was
a seafloor some 450 million year ago. This very hard limestone
was laid down over millions of years and is particularly
rich in ammonites and Orthoceras (long shelled cephalopods
related to nautiloids). Tremendous labor was required to
cut these out of solid rock, grind them to shape, and polished
them to a glassine finish. Each pair weighs some 6.2 pounds,
and each end stands some 7 inches high, on a firm base measuring
about 3.5 by 2.5 inches. Actual item is pictured - each is
